Rosa Parks was an activist in the US and has become a symbol of the civil rights movement. On December 1, 1955 is arrested because in a bus occupies the row reserved for whites and refused to get up; The driver then called the cops. From that moment is known as "mother of civil rights moviment" and began a boycott of the Montgomery Bus. That night fifty leaders of the African American community rebelled under the leadership of Martin Luther King started a protest that will last 382 days. For his actions is threatened and is forced to move to Detroit. In February of 1987 Parks founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development along with Elaine Eason Steele in honor of her husband Raymond Parks. In 1999 gets the Congressional Gold Medal.She died in Detroit on 24 October 2005.
